MRS. SARAH YODY

Sarah Yordy, daughter of Christina and Lydia (Harris) Stauffer, was born at Milford, Neb. on May 18, 1882, and departed from this life to be with her Lord on March 3, 1957, at the age of 74 years, eight months, and 12 days.

On Nov. 14, 1907, she was married to David Yordy at Milford, and together they established a Christian home. God blessed this home with six children — five through birth and one by adoption.

Early in life mother accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized at the East Fairview Mennonite Church at Milford, Neb. by Bishop Joseph Schlegal.

In the spring of 1924 she with her husband and children moved from the Milford community to Ashley, Mich. where she had since resided.

She was much concerned about the spiritual welfare of her family and loved ones. Although mother had been in poor health for several years she was able to be up and care for herself, having taking [sic] with a stroke only two hours before her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure four sons and two daughters: Orvin of Pigeon, Mich., Charles of St. Johns, Mich., Ada (Mrs. Leonard Litwiller) of Delavan, Ill., John of Ashley, Mich., Emerson of Mio, Mich., and Grace (Mrs. Maynard Brauher) of Middleton, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; one sister, Caroline Stauffer of Maysville, Mo.; four brothers, John Stauffer of Meadow Grove, Neb., Albert Stauffer of Elm Creek, Neb., Edwin Stauffer of Milford, Neb., and Amos Stauffer of Deshler, Neb.; and other relatives and friends.

Those preceding her in death were her husband, four grandchildren, her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Services were held March 6, 1957, in the Bethel Mennonite Church of Ashley, Mich. with the pastor, John M. Landis officiating. The final resting place is the Washington Township Cemetery.
