Wellman, Iowa. — Funeral services were held at the Wellman Mennonite church Sept. 3 for John Edward Burkholder, 18, son of Chris Burkholder, who was fatally injured Sunday night on Route 81. | |||
The youth was returning from Wayland and it is believed that he fell asleep and failed to negotiate a curve. He was found dead several hours later, having been thrown from the car, which apparently had turned over several times. | |||
John had registered on Aug. 28 at Iowa Mennonite school where he would have been a senior. His father, step-mother, three brothers, two sisters, one half-brother and two step-brothers survive. | |||
