Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for Amos Burkhalter, 76, lifelong resident of this community, were held Jan. 8 at the First Mennonite church where he had given long and faithful service in various capacities. He died at his home here Jan. 5.

Only a few months ago he had retired as custodian of the church, a position which he held for many years. He was the first rural mail carrier here, and later was employed as salesman by local manufacturing concerns. In addition he was active in civic and community affairs.

DEATH CLAIMS WELL KNOWN RESIDENT AT BERNE, INDIANA

Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for Amos Burkhalter, 76, lifelong resident of this community, were held Jan. 8 at the First Mennonite church where he had given long and faithful service in various capacities. He died at his home here Jan. 5.

Only a few months ago he had retired as custodian of the church, a position which he held for many years. He was the first rural mail carrier here, and later was employed as salesman by local manufacturing concerns. In addition he was active in civic and community affairs.
