ALVIN I. MAST

Alvin I. Mast, 88, of Manheim, Pa., formerly of Cochranville, died Sept. 1, 2000, at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness.

A lifelong dairy farmer, he retired in 1972. A hunter, he was an original member of Dutch Mast Hunting Camp, Slate Run. He later joind [sic] Frazer Camp, Marsh Hill.

He was a charter member of Media Mennonite Church, where he served in offices of the Sunday school. After retirement, he returned to the church of his childhood, Maple Grove Mennonite Church. For the last five years he attended Erismans Mennonite Church, Manheim. He was a member of Maple Grove-Conestoga Mission Committee and Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.

Born in Atglen, he was the son of the late Amos K. and Fanny Kennel Mast. He was married 63 years on Dec. 23 to Edna Mast Mast.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Vernon A., married to Karen S. Miller Mast of Broadway, Va., Dale J., married to Kathy Bergey Mast of Chesapeake, Va., and Larry D., married to Candis E. Evans Mast of Leola; two daughters, Verda R., married to Homer Geib of Manheim, and Anna M., married to James Bishop of Harrisonburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer and Earl, both of Parkesburg, and Leon of Springfield, Ohio; and a sister, Anna Mary Mast of Akron.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Beiler.
