Paul G. Brenneman, 76, of Canadensis, Pa., died Dec. 8, 1996. He was the husband of 52 years of Grace (Bergey) Brenneman. A resident of Doylestown for 42 years, he moved to Canadensis one and a half years ago. | |||
Born in Tofield, Alta., he was a son of the late Jacob and Barbara (Stauffer) Brenneman. He attended Hesston (Kan.) College and graduated from Goshen (Ind.) college in 1943. He trained to become a medical doctor at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He served his internship at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown. | |||
He practiced medicine in Trevose and Hesston before serving as a doctor in LaPlate, Puerto Rico, with Mennonite Board of Missions for two years. In 1954 he opened an office in New Britain and served the community until 1990. After that, he served as a doctor in Monrovia, Liberia, with MBM for three months. | |||
He was a charter member of the Mennonite Medical Association, a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the Bucks County Medical Society. He was also a member and former president of the Clayton Kratz Fellowship and a charter board member and active participant in the Spruce Lake Retreat Association in Canadensis. | |||
He was a longtime member of Doylestown Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years and formerly was chairman of the church council. | |||
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Styer and husband James B. of Telford, Susan Brenneman and husband Archie Vomachka of Lansdale, and Joanne Speigel and husband Wayne of Richmond, Va.; two sons, William of Charlottesville, Va., and Timothy and wife Ann of Harrisonburg, Va.; and nine grandchildren. | |||
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald, in 1949; two sisters and six brothers. | |||
