Jarold Keith Becker

Jarold Keith Becker, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Becker of Galva, Kansas, was born May 23, 1940, at the Bethesda hospital at Goessel, and died at the home of his parents on November 28, 1940, reaching the age of six months and five days.

From the time of his birth little Jarold had not been a very strong child and his parents, being very much concerned about his health, took him to several specialists and after much tender care he responded to treatment and the last two months had made rapid improvement.

On Sunday morning, November 24, his mother noticed he was suffering somewhat from a cold and the necessary remedies were administered. The following days medical attention was given. It seemed he was suffering from an ordinary cold and no particular alarm was felt regarding his condition. On Wednesday night his mother, after applying cold remedies to his chest, tucked him comfortably in his little bed and sometimes in the early hours of Thursday morning, the spirit of little Jarold slipped away to the tender arms of his Maker and Creator. When his mother arose and went to his bed she found that death had entered and taken her son. thus another little flower was permitted to bud in this life and to bloom in heaven.

He leaves to mourn his early departure: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Becker of Galva; one sister, ElDoris Jean, age 2 years; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. C. Becker of Galva; and Mr. and Mrs. David Smith of Derby, Kansas, seven uncles and nine aunts; five great-grandparents, Mrs. Lena Buller of Durham, Kansas; Mrs. Eva H. Decker of Galva, Kansas, J. J. Decker of Galva, and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Becker of Roxbury, Kansas, and many other relatives and friends.

There is never a cross so heavy
But the nail-scarred hands are there
Outstretched in tender compassion
The burden to help us bear.

There is never a heart so broken
But the loving Lord can heal;
For the heart that was pierced on Calvary
Doth still for his loved ones feel.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, December 1, 1940, at 1:30 at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. C. Becker of Galva and at 2:30 p.m. from the Calvary Tabernacle church in Moundridge, Kansas, with O. W. Dirks officiating.

Interment in the Moundridge township cemetery.

The family expressed its heart-felt gratitude and thanks for all the expressions of love and sympathy in this their hour of sorrow.
