KATHERINA FRIESEN

(Mrs.) Katherina Friesen of Winnipeg passed away on August 13. She was born on August 17, 1897 to Isbrand and Sara Wiebe in Rosenort, Russia. During her youth she was active in the local Allianz church, where she was baptized by Rev. Frank Martens. In 1921 she married Abram Friesen. In fall 1943 the family moved to Germany. The Lord answered her prayers when all the family members were eventually reunited. The family emigrated to Canada in fall 1947. She is survived by her husband Abram; children and spouses: Abram and Irene of St. Catharines, Ont., John and Annie, Jacob and Edna, and Aron Friesen, all of Winnipeg, Kathe Reimer of AnoIa, Man. and Lydia and Herbert Foth of Niverville, Man.; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter Sara and son Heinrich. Funeral services were held August 13 at the Central (Winnipeg) Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Gerhard Friesen officiating.
