ABRAHAM KONRAD
Abraham Heinrich Konrad of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away on August 19. He was born to Heinrich and Margaretha Konrad on January 29, 1902 at Kuterla, Samara, Russia. Eight years later his family moved to Kleefeld, Slavgorod, Siberia. He accepted Christ as his Saviour while still young and was baptized into the Gnadenheim Mennonite Brethren church. He married Elizabeth Nachtigal on February 2, 1922 in Kleefeld. The couple emigrated to Mexico in 1925, and a year later they moved to Canada, first to Saskatchewan and then to northern Alberta. They farmed at LaGlace till 1951, when they moved to Abbotsford, B.C. He was actively involved in the LaGlace MB Church: he helped erect the church and Bible school buildings, taught adult Sunday school for many years, and was leader of the church for a time. In B.C. the couple farmed south of Abbotsford and later moved into Clearbrook. His wife Elizabeth passed away in June 1980. He was also predeceased by two sons. He is survived by three sons, four daughters and their spouses: Elizabeth Voth of Prince George, B.C.; Abe and Mary of Niverville, Man.; Jake and Ruby of Grande Prairie, Alta.; Dan and Rosanna of Prince George; Helen and Art Knight of Kamloops, B. C.; Irene and Vern Kopp of Kelowna, B.C.; and Huldah and George Riddle of Thompson, Man.; and 20 grandchildren.
