Peter J. Bartel was born near Moundridge, Kansas, on February 7, 1879.  He was baptized on the confession of his faith and became a member of the Garden Township Mennonite Church on October 13, 1912 by Rev. A. A. Somer then pastor of the church.  He remained a faithful member up to the time of his death.  He became ill sometime in January of this year with fungus infection of the lungs.  Upon the advice of physicians he was taken to the Halstead Hospital on the 10th of July where he passed away quietly and peacefully at seven o'clock Wednesday morning August 8th at the age of 49 years, 7 months and 1 day.  On February 28, 1912 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Bachman his now bereaved widow.  They were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of this life together for over 16 years.  One daughter was born to this union who keenly feels the loss of a faithful husband and father with her mother.

Peter J. Bartel

Peter J. Bartel was born near Moundridge, Kansas, on February 7, 1879.
