SAM KRAUSE

Sam Krause, former MBMS International missionary to Japan, died in Eugene, Ore. Jan. 21. He was 83. He was drafted for U.S. government service in 1944 and it was during this time that he experienced a call to missionary service in Japan. After his discharge, he began to prepare for missionary work. He married Renetta Schellenberg in 1949. For almost four decades, from 1953 to 1987, Sam and Renetta were used by God to plant four churches in the Osaka region. Laurence and Leona Hiebert, MBMS International team leaders in Japan, say "Sam is remembered as one who was gifted in reaching the unsaved and discipiing new believers. A good number of his disciples entered the ministry and are still serving today." --MBMSI Global Bridge
