• Mrs. Sara T. Kroeker, 82, a lifelong resident of the Inman community, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Peter E. Kroeker, who died in November of last year. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Edwin J. Regier of rural Newton and Mrs. John R. Neufeld of Inman; two sons, Eldo of rural Hutchinson and John W. of Inman; a sister, Mrs. Justina Ediger of Dallas, Ore.; one brother, Jake T. Wiens of Salem, Ore.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Inman with Rev. Paul Isaak in charge. | |||

Sara T. (Wiens) Kroeker was born on a farm near Inman, Kan. on March 5,1893, to Rev. Henry A. and Maria Thiessen Wiens. She was the third child in a family of seven children She attended both German and English schools, going to a private German school south of Inman until Christmas and then to the Inman Grade School after Christmas. She attended through the fifth grade. | |||
She was baptized by Elder Klaas Kroeker on Sept 26,1915, and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, where she remained a faithful member. On Sept. 5,1920, she was married to Peter E. Kroeker. To this union were born five children of whom the first born, Ernest died in infancy. | |||
Our parents lived on a farm, the Wiens home piece southwest of Inman, most of their married life. There were several brief moves, one to Perryton, Texas. They remained there only a short time due to the hard times during those years. Later they lived for a year near Dallas, Ore. That was a pleasant time in mother's life because she and her older sister, Justina, spent much time together. | |||
In the summer of 1962 they retired from the farm and moved to Inman where they lived until last summer. In July mother moved to the Pleasant View Home at Inman where she resided until her death. | |||
Mother enjoyed gardening and always had a large garden, especially while still on the farm. She had a special love for her flower garden. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and especially enjoyed having some of her friends as teachers. | |||
On Sept. 5,1970, our parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. | |||
Mother had been in frail health tor a number of years and was frequently a patient at the Mercy Hospital in Moundridge. She entered Mercy Hospital on June 6 and died Sunday afternoon, June 8. She reached the age of 82. | |||
She leaves four children; Ella and husband Edwin J, Regier of Newton, Amanda and husband John R. Neufeld of Inman, Eldo and wife Grace of Hutchinson, and John and wife Donna of Inman; 18 grand children; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Justina, Mrs. Henry W. Ediger of Dallas.
