&bull;  Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Goessel Mennonite Church for Mrs. Gerhard Franzen, 67, of rural Canton, who died Jan. 28 at the Bethesda Hospital.  The services were in charge of Rev. Henry Goossen, the pastor.  Mrs. Franzen was the former Marie Regehr of Mt. lake, Minn.  She married Gerhard Franzen at Mt. Lake in 1940, and they had lived on the farm near Canton since that time.  Survivors include Mr. Franzen; three sons, Kenneth of Bellaire, Texas, Irvin G. of Topeka, and Daniel of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. John Adams Jr. of Tyndale Air Force Base in Florida, Mrs. Ray Noffsinger of Germantown, Ohio, and Mrs.. Alfred Unruh of Dayton, Ohio; five brothers, Lando Regehr of Butterfield, Minn., David D. and Harry Regehr, both of Mt. Lake, Henry Regehr of Oglivie [''sic'' Ogilvie], Minn. and Albert Regehr of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. P. J. Duerksen and Mrs. Ervin Neufeld, both of Mt. Lake, and Mrs. John Kliewer of Stockham, Neb.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

<center><h3>MARIE REGEHR FRANZEN</h3></center>
 
Marie, daughter of David J. and Margeretha Penner Regehr, was born on Feb. 27, 1907 in Mountain lake, Minn.  the oldest of nine children.
 
She received her education in Mountain Lake Elementary School and Mountain Lake Bible School.  She also took a course in Nurses Aid work which later became her profession.
 
On June 7, 1925 she was baptized by Elder Henry H. Regier and received as a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of Mountain Lake.  For 15 years she served in Nurses Aid work in the Bethel Hospital in Mountain Lake.
 
On Aug. 12, 1940 she became the wife of Gerhard Franzen.  They made their home for over 34 years in the Goessel, Kan. community where she was a member of the Goessel Mennonite Church.  Through marriage she was accepted as the mother of her husband's four children, Elma, Irvin, Doris and Daniel.  On May 26, 1942 God blessed them with a daughter, Gladys Margaretha, and on Sept.2, 1943 a son Kenneth David was born to them.
 
After the children were grown, Marie and her husband took patients into their home and cared for them.  For over a year they served as house parents to two handicapped boys at the Institute of Logopedics in Wichita, Kan.
 
Since 1970 her health had declined and she was hospitalized several times.  She entered her eternal rest Jan. 28, 1975, one month before her 68th birthday.
 
Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure the children, Gladys and husband John Adams of Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, Kenneth and wife Sharon of Bellaire, Texas, Elma and husband Ray Noffsinger of Germantown, Ohio,Irvin and wife Becky of Topeka, Kan., Doris and husband Alfred Unruh of Dayton, Ohio, and Daniel and wife Patricia of Newton, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters and five brothers, Hilda and husband Peter J. Duerksen of Mountain Lake, Henry and wife Mable [''sic'' Mabel] of Ogilvie, Minn David and wife Mary of Mountain Lake, Lando [''sic'' Londo], and wife Sara of Butterfield, Minn., Margareth [''sic'' Margaret] and husband John Kliewer of Stockham, Neb., Harry and wife Helen of Mountain Lake, Rosella and husband Ervin Neufeld of Mountain lake, Albert and wife Olga of Minneapolis, Minn.

MARIE REGEHR FRANZEN

Marie, daughter of David J. and Margeretha Penner Regehr, was born on Feb. 27, 1907 in Mountain lake, Minn. the oldest of nine children.
