JOHN J. REMPEL

John J. Rempel died Apr. 2. He was born Apr. 22, 1923 to Johann and Aganetha Rempel in Sagradovka, Ukraine. In 1926 the family immigrated to Foxwarren, Man., then moved to Yarrow, B.C. in 1941 and settled in Arnold, B.C. He became a Christian in his mid-teens and was baptized, joining Yarrow MB Church. He attended Bible school in Yarrow and in Abbotsford, B.C He was involved in children's ministry, and in lay preaching and teaching Sunday school up to age 80. Vacations were often scheduled to coincide with church conventions. He served on Tabor Home and MEl boards. He married Mary Toews Oct. 15, 1950. They ran a small dairy farm and he worked for the Public Works Dept. of Sumas and Abbotsford, becoming assistant superintendent. After retirement he added golf and Tim Hortons to his daily schedule. He will be remembered as a man of God who humbly lived the life he taught.
