DAVID JAKOB UNGER

David Jakob Unger died Dec. 18 in Lucky Lake, Sask. He was born June 23, 1906 in South Russia to Jakob and Maria Unger. The family moved to Slavgorod, Siberia in 1908. They immigrated to Canada in 1926. He homesteaded in Moose Range, Sask. He accepted Jesus through radio ministry, and listened to the radio for inspiration to the end of his life. He was baptized in Saskatoon. He married Elizabeth Wiebe Jan. 14, 1945 in Saskatoon. They farmed in Moose Range, Lobethal and Main Centre. In 1953 he became a mail carrier. They retired to Herbert in 1984. Their concern was the welfare of their sons who were mentally challenged. He cared for Elizabeth when she became sick. Elizabeth died Sept. 9, 2003. Predeceased by all his siblings and 2 infant sons, he is mourned by daughters Mary Mielke and Ruth Unruh; sons David, Daniel and Paul; 2 grandchildren. The funeral was Dec. 20 in Herbert MB Church.
