Mary Warkentin
Services for Mrs. Mary Warkentin, 87, who died Friday at Halstead Nursing Center, were held Monday afternoon at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, where she was a member. The Rev. Robert D. Suderman officiated. Burial was in Goessel Cemetery, Goessel, under the direction of Kaufman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Warkentin, who retired as postmaster at Goessel in 1958, had been a resident of Halstead the past 17 years. She was born Feb. 18, 1887, at Hillsboro and was married to Aaron Warkentin on Feb. 22, 1906, in Gotebo, Okla. He died on Oct. 19, 1953.
Survivors include three sons, L. D. Warkentin, Enid, Okla., Ralph Warkentin, Fort Worth, Tex., and Carl Warkentin, Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Vera) Regier, Halstead; two brothers, Emil Dalke and Henry Dalke, both of Halstead; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Ratzlaff, Halstead, and Mrs. John (Emma) Prather, Newton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
