AGED MINISTER OF PENNSYLVANIA CHURCH CALLED BY DEATH

Belleville, Penna. — Joshua B. Zook, widely known and respected minister of the Allensville Mennonite church, died at his home in Allensville Oct. 13 at the age of 85. Funeral services were held Oct. 16 at the church where he had served as minister for 49 years.

Bro. Zook was married to Mary Ellen Zook on March 12, 1893, and she survives. Also surviving are seven children, five brothers and three sisters.

Joshua B. Zook of Allensville died at his home on Oct. 13, 1954, at 2:45 p.m. He had been in failing health for the past few years. He was 85 years old. He was born near Belleville on Dec. 15, 1868 [sic 1869], the son of John G. and Catharine King Zook. He married Mary Ellen Zook of Allensville on March 12, 1893. They enjoyed 61 years of married life together.

On May 14, 1905 he was ordained to the ministry and faithfully served the Allensville Mennonite church for the past 49 years. Besides his wife he leaves the following children: Mrs. D. S. (Phoebe) Oyer of St. Johns, Mich.; Chauncy Zook of Allensville, Mrs. Elmer E. (Cathryn) Yoder of Huntingdon, Pa., Anna M. and Bertha L. at home, and Fannie Zook of Reading, Pa.

He is also survived by these brothers and sisters: Ira M. Zook of Portsouth [sic Portsmouth], Va., Oliver H. Zook of Belleville, Rev. Leo P. Zook, Blaine C. Zook, Mrs. Anna Philips and Mrs. Marie Kennedy of Allensville, Jacob J. Zook of Ohio, and Mrs. Pius (Ella) Hostetler of Tampico, Ill. Sixteen grandchildren are living.

Funeral services were hold at the Allensville church in charge of Raymond R. Peachey assisted by J. Ellrose Hartzler, Uriel S. Zook and Arthur Good of Reading.
