OLGA HELENE REMPEL
Olga Helene Rempel of Richmond, B .C. passed away Oct. 31. She was born Oct. 3, 1907 in Millerovo, southern Russia. She accepted Christ after a Good Friday service at age 4. At 16, her baptism was witnessed by her Russian schoolmates. Her joy was to sing in the church choir. She was a trained kindergarten teacher, but was not allowed to teach anything about God and resigned after a year. She was denied dental technician training. In 1929 the family left Russia on the last train, reaching Yarrow, B.C. in April, 1930. She enjoyed freedom of worship and singing in the church choir. She married choir conductor Aaron Rempel Nov. 13, 1932. They had a dairy, berry and fruit farm and served Yarrow MB Church for 50 years. Music was a dominant part of the family's activities. In April, 1980 they moved to Richmond, B.C. Aaron died in September, 1981. She enjoyed the fellowship of Fraserview MB Church. She suffered a stroke in June, 1991. She is remembered for her love of music and her loving kindness. She is mourned by her daughters Ruth Klassen, Edith Simpson, Hildegarde Krahn, Charlotte Shier, Joan Pauls, Anne Dyck, Ollie Peters and Marlene Penner; son Walter; 29 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother. The funeral was Nov. 2 in South Delta Baptist Church, Tsawassen, B.C., with Herb Brandt and Jerry Rueb ministering/
