JOHN GEORGE WIENS

John George Wiens passed away May 6. He was born Mar. 8, 1905 to George and Aganeta Wiens in Kuban, southern Russia. He fled with his mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, reaching Humboldt, Sask. in 1924. After 10 years of struggling to farm on the prairies, he moved his wife and young family to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1931. He worked on farms, on railways, in sawmills and in nurseries. His greatest success was growing berries. He enjoyed singing, fishing, travelling and visiting the sick and elderly. He is remembered as a devout Christian who practised his faith sincerely and taught his children the Way of Life. He was a member of Greendale MB Church in Sardis, B.C. for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife; children Wilmer, John, Leona Baerg, Serena Rempel, Gertie Ratzlaff, Abe, Susan and Debbie Reimer; 25 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 1 sister and 1 brother. The funeral was May 9 in Greendale MB Church.
