John J. Jantzen

John J. Jantzen passed away of cancer July 21. He was born Jan. 25, 1914 to Johann and Helena Jantzen in Siberia. In 1925, the family immigrated to Gruenthal, Man. During the 1930s, he travelled to Ontario to scout opportunities on behalf of his family. They decided to move to B.C. He worked on a sugar beet farm in Coaldale, Alta., then joined his family in Yarrow, B.C., working various jobs including at a lumber yard. He accepted the Lord and was baptized, joining Yarrow MB Church. He married Helen Matthies in 1945. They settled in Richmond, B.C. They became charter members of Fraserview MB Church, where he served as registrar and sang in the male choir. He worked at Canadian Forest Products Eburne Sawmill for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed travelling and volunteered as a driver in the community. Predeceased by 3 sisters, he is mourned by Helen; sons Ron and Ernie; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters. The funeral was July 25 at Fraserview MB Church, with Herb Brandt and Sam Taetz ministering.
