MRS. KATHARINA DOERKSEN

Katharina Doerksen was born to Jacob and Sara Quiring on February 19, 1890 in Elisabethtal, in southern Russia. On May 27, 1913 she was joined in marriage to John P . Doerksen in Kleefeld, Russia. They shared 54 years of joys and sorrows until his passing on August 18, 1967. They were baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren church in 1923. In 1926 they came to Canada, living first near Ste. Anne, Manitoba, then a year in Saskatchewan, a year in Coaldale, Alberta, 16 at Gem, Alberta, and finally retiring to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1947.

She went to be with the Lord on August 22 after a brief illness. The caption over her difficult and trying times was always, "It was thus the Lord's will." She continued to place her trust in the Lord until her end. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, John and Erna of Abbotsford, B.C.; Jacob and Hertha, Agnes, and Betty and David Schulz, all of Chilliwack; Peter and Tina of Carman, Man.; and Tina of Vineland, Ont.; as well as 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.
