FRANK F. BRAUN
Frank F. Braun of Herbert, Sask., was born to Franz and Elizabeth Braun (nee Krahn), on June 13, 1894, in the village of Rosenbach in South Russia. He passed away on May 1 in the Herbert hospital. His family emigrated to Canada in November, 1901 when he was seven, and settled in Winkler, Manitoba. After living in several places in southern Manitoba the family moved to Herbert, Sask. in 1907.
He began attending Sunday school in Herbert, and would often pray as he worked in the fields. He accepted Christ in 1914 when C.N. Hiebert had evangelistic meetings in the community. Baptism and membership in the Greenfarm Church south of Herbert followed in that same year. He married Aganetha Andres in 1915 and together they raised a family of five children: four sons and one adopted daughter. The Brauns joined the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church in 1938, and in 1941 were elected as deacons. They retired from the farm in 1963. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1965 and their diamond anniversary in 1975.
Mr. Braun was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and seven sisters . He leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Peter Andres and her husband of Herbert; four sons and their spouses: Cornelius of Hepburn, and William, Henry, and Frank of Herbert; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
