MRS. KATERINA FROESE

Katerina Froese of Debolt, Alberta entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Janzen in Orenburg, Russia, in 1899. She was taken from this world after six days of illness on March 29,1978 and ushered into the presence of the Lord whom she loved.

She married Abram Froese at the age of 19, and eight years later they emigrated to Canada to the farm of Abram Klassen at Acme, Alberta. They moved to Tofield in 1928 and to Lindbrook in 1936, where they farmed and Abram Froese assisted in the ministry of the word of God in the Mennonite Brethren Church where they were members.

In 1947 they moved to Campden, Ont., and after five years of farming they moved to Vineland, Ont., where she worked in a canning factory for a number of years. She was widowed in 1962, and continued to live in Vineland, involving herself in the community . She kept herself busy during the last years of her life, sewing and quilting, making as many as 30 quilts in a year.

In 1976 she accepted the invitation of Nick and Mary Thiessen to live with them in Debolt, Alberta. She continued to be busy quilting while there, until she was taken ill.

She leaves to mourn her loss five sons, Willy of Edmonton, Abe, Jake, Peter and John of St. Catharines, Ont.; three daughters, Mrs. Nick (Mary) Thiessen of Debolt, Alta., Mrs. Ben (Susan) Kauenhofen of Winnipeg, Man., Mrs. Jack (Kathy) Dirksen of Manhatten Beach, Calif.; five daughters in-law, 29 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
