Abraham Alex Rempel

Abraham Alex Rempel of St. Catharines passed away Dee. 3. He was born Dec. 23, 1909 to Abraham and Katharina Rempel in Michelsheim, Memrik, Russia. He immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1925, settling on a dairy farm in Carman, Man. His father died in 1929, and the family moved to a grain farm at Elm Creek, Man. In his 32nd year he accepted Christ with the help of a friend. A year later he was baptized and joined Elm Creek MB Church. In 1944 he married Mary Epp. They moved to St. Catharines in 1950. He loved salesmanship and in 1954 opened his own car dealership. His motto was: "When you make a sale, you also make a friend." After retirement he and Mary did the custodial work at· Grantham MB Church for 5 years. He was diagnosed as having Parkinson's disease and worked hard at keeping his ability to walk and talk. He is mourned by his wife; sons Rudy, David, Edward, Terry and Daniel; daughters Ruth Friesen and Lynda Knapp; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The funeral was Dec. 6 in Grantham MB Church, with Henry Penner and John B. Epp ministering.
