ABRAM WALTER REGEHR

The words of Isaiah 55:8,9 have comforted the Isaac Regehr family of Coaldale Alberta after the sudden passing of their son, Abram Walter, on July 26 and their daughter Hilda some three months earlier. Abram was born on June 12, 1953 in Coaldale. At the age of 11 he was led to the Lord by his sister Hilda. In 1972, after the first of two years at Bethany Bible Institute, he was baptized and joined the local Mennonite Brethren Church. He was a willing worker in the Sunday school, choir and youth work.

For two years, 1973-75, Abe attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology where he received his diploma in structural engineering. He was then employed by Keith Consulting Engineering in Lethbridge. He was unexpectedly taken as a result of a heat stroke suffered during a church-sponsored walkathon on July 26. A week earlier, when his mother wondered why Hilda had had to leave the family so soon, he replied: "Mom, don't question the Lord. Wait till you get to heaven. There the Lord will answer every one of your questions." The family remembers Abe as a cheerful and active son who brought much joy into their home.

At the funeral service a special 40-voice male choir sang words of comfort. Nick Reimer spoke from Psalm 103:8-18 and pastor Rudy Heidebrecht challenged the large congregation present with Psalm 17:3 and John 3:16.

Abe leaves to mourn his beloved parents, Isaac and Susie Regehr; one brother, Jake: a sister, Elfrieda; and many relatives and friends.
