MRS. KATERINA MARTENS
After a short serious illness, (Mrs.) Katherina Martens passed away in Morden, Man., on September 16. She was born on November 26, 1897 to David and Justina (nee Wiebe) Heide near Winkler, Man.
She and Peter C. Martens were married on November 13, 1917, and they farmed in the Winkler area. In 1952, together with her husband, she joined the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1963.
A funeral service was held on September 19 in the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. Pastor John Stoesz and Rev. Frank H. Friesen officiated.
She leaves to mourn three sons, Peter of Winkler, George of Niagara Falls and Henry of Saskatoon; two daughters, Tiene (Mrs. George) Wiebe of Vancouver and Susie (Mrs. Eldon) Bryant of Stevensville, Ont.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 half-brother, George Schapansky of Plum Coulee, Man.; and many friend.
