• The Alexanderwohl church near Goessel was filled Tuesday afternoon for the funeral of Wesley D. Voth, 41, farmer and mill worker of the Goessel community whose death occurred unexpectedly Friday morning, May 15, at Axtell Christian Hospital. He had been ill only a short time. In addition to farming, Mr. Voth was employed at American Flours in Newton. Surviving are his widow, the former Jeanette Richert, and their three children, Darrell, Jane and Arden, all of the home on Route 2, Newton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David S. Voth of Newton; five brothers and one sister. Rev. Aaron Epp officiated at the funeral service.

WESLEY D. VOTH

Wesley D. Voth, Newton, Kan., son of David S. and Martha (Reimer) Voth, was born Oct. 28, 1922 in Goessel, Kan. He was a graduate of Goessel Rural High School. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior on Jun 4, 1941 and received into the membership of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

He spent two years in the Civilian Public Service camps during World War II, serving in Colorado, California and Mississippi. Upon his return, he married Jeanette Richert on Aug. 8, 1946 with P. A. Wedel officiating. He took up work as a maintenance man for American Flours, Inc., in Newton and later also engaged in farming.

To this union were born four children, Gwen, Darrell, Jane and Arden. He was able to provide moral and spiritual training in the home, which has borne fruit in the family. He was active in the life of the congregation, as a member of th senior choir and treasurer of the senior Christian endeavor.

He had enjoyed good health and appreciated life to the full. He developed sever [sic] stomach trouble on May 12 and was admitted to the Axtell Christian hospital in Newton for treatment. The next morning he was released but was readmitted late that night when sharp pains recurred. All of this seemed to be beyond the diagnosis of the doctors, and they were unable to help him.

His earthly life came to an abrupt end when he passed on to be with his Lord on May 15 at 2:40 a.m. having reached the age of only 41 years.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of his life are his wife, Jeanette, their four children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David S. Voth, Newton; one sister, Esther and her husband John G. Fast, Beatrice, Nebr.; four brothers, Paul and his wife LaVern, Camino, Calif., Milo and his wife Verna, Custer, Wash., Orlando and his wife Frieda, Orville and his wife Frances, Irvin and his wife Susan, of rural Newton; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Maria Richert, and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel on May 19. Rev. Aaron Epp officiated.
