— Funeral services for Mrs. Simon Stucky, 76, of Moundridge, were held Monday afternoon at the Hopeview Mennonite church near there. Rev. Archie Kliewer, the pastor, and Rev. J. J. Toews of Buhler officiated. Mrs. Stucky, who lived at McPherson before moving to Moundridge about a year ago, died at the Bethel Deaconess hospital here on Friday, Dec. 25. A brother, Otto Juhnke, resides in Newton. Survivors in the immediate family are a son Samuel of McPherson, and three daughters, Mrs. Carl Holloway of McPherson, Mrs. Herman Schrag of Elyria and Mrs. Dan Schrag of Moundridge.

MRS. SIMON STUCKY

Ida (Juhnke) Stucky, daughter of Karl Juhnke and Fanny Kaufman, was born in Knox county, Nebraska, on Oct. 13, 1877. She was the oldest of the family of two sisters and four brothers. Two sisters proceeded her in death. She was approximately six years old when her parents moved to Moundridge, Kansas, where she attended school at the Pleasant Ridge school.

On Nov. 19, 1899, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by Elder Balzer. Thereupon she became a member of the Hopefield Mennonite church of Moundridge.

She was united in holy wedlock to Simon Stucky on Sept. 4, 1900. They were permitted to share life’s joys and sorrows for 52 years and had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1950.

Loving the Lord, she desired her children to love Him too, and spent much time instructing them.

Most of their life was spent on a farm near Elyria. For a number of years they lived in McPherson. They then moved to Moundridge where father passed away. After his death she continued to make her home in Moundridge until her passing away.

Their union was blessed with five children, all of whom are living but one son, Milford John, who preceded his parents in death. Her husband, Simon Stucky, preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1952, after a short period of illness.

She was taken to the Bethel Deaconess hospital on Dec. 7, 1953, and underwent surgery on Dec. 17. Recovering quite well from the operation she suddenly took a turn for the worse on Christmas Day at 3:00 P.M., and passed away to be with her Lord at 4:45 P.M. that same afternoon, Dec. 25, 1953. She reached the age of 76 years, two months, and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure three daughters: Anna, Mrs. Carl Holloway; Adina, Mrs. Dan Schrag Dorothy, Mrs. Herman Schrag; and one son Samuel. Three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four brothers, nephews, nieces, including hosts of other relatives and friends.

We keenly feel the loss of our beloved whose prayers and loving devotion we shall so sadly miss, but we rejoice that she has gone to be with Jesus whom she so dearly loved. We anticipate a most joyous reunion in Glory.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 28, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. in the Hopefield Mennonite church. She was laid to rest in the Hopefield church cemetery.
