MRS. PETER F. ISAAC
Mrs. Peter F. Isaac, nee Katie Kornelsen, was born at Kleefeld, Manitoba on March 2, 1885 to Mr. and Mrs. Abram Kornelsen. She passed from this life on Dec. 4, 1963, reaching the age of 78 years, nine months and two days.
In her youth she remembered her Creator by accepting Christ as her Savior. In June 1901 she was baptized upon her faith and joined the Mennonite Church at Jansen, Nebr. It was also here that she met our father, with whom she was joined in wedlock on June 12, 1904.
To this union were born 12 children, of whom Henry passed away in 1933 at the age of 17 and Abe in 1937 at age 28, besides two children in infancy. Also preceding her in death were five grandchildren and our father on Dec. 27, 1956.
In 1906 our parents moved to Meade County, Kansas. Many family joys and blessings have been ours together here. Their golden wedding celebration in 1954 was a highlight of grace in our parents' lives. In 1956 they retired to the city of Meade.
While mother's hopes and concerns centered around her family, she also found time to form a wide circle of friendships. Hospitality characterized her home toward neighbor, friend and wayfarer. Many ministers of the Gospel were thus entertained. She attended church services regularly as long as health and strength permitted. The singing of spiritual songs and hymns was her delight even to her declining days.
Mother enjoyed a reasonable degree of health until July 15, 1961 when she had the misfortune of a hip fracture. Though surgery was successful, she never again regained full strength. Surgery last June revealed a cancerous condition which demanded hospitalization for her last six months of life. These months proved to be laden with trials as well as inner victories for her. The prayers of others in her behalf meant much to her.
She passed away suddenly and quietly during the noon hour of Dec. 4, to be with her Savior and to join loved ones who had gone on before.
She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Katharine (Mrs. P. L. Classen) of Meade, Pete and Corny of Meade, Jake of Reedley, Calif., John and Anna (Mrs. Cornie Z. Friesen), both of Meade, and Lena and Margaret of the home; two sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, including Mrs. A. K. Isaac of Winnipeg, Manitoba; 41 grandchildren, of whom five are step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Isaac W. Kornelsen of Blumenort, Manitoba; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. J. W. Kornelsen and Mrs. A. W. Kornelsen, and many other relatives and friends. — The Family.
