• Funeral services for Mrs. Jemima Zimmerman, 92, a resident of McPherson County most of her life, were held Monday forenoon at the West Liberty Mennonite Church near Inman, Rev. Edward Birkey in charge.  Mrs. Zimmerman died Aug. 23 at her home in Conway.  A native at the Kokomo, Ind. community, she was married to Peter Zimmerman in 1899.  He died in 1942.  Surviving are three daughters, four sons and a large number of grandchildren, including six great-great-grandchildren.

MRS. JEMIMA ZIMMERMAN

Mrs. Jemima Slabach Zimmerman of Conway, Kan., daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Slabach, passed away in her sleep Aug. 23, 1963 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lottie Miller. She reached the age of 92 years, six months and 14 days, and was the last of six children. She was born Feb. 9, 1871, near Kokomo, Ind. The family moved first to Nebraska when she was about four, and alter to Kansas where she lived the rest of her life.

On Dec. 5, 1889 she was married to Peter Zimmerman, who died in 1942. A daughter, Cora, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hostetler of Hesston, Kan., Mrs. Florence Johnston of Leonard, Mo., and Mrs. Lottie Miller of Conway; four sons, John of Conway, Ernest and Raymond of Windom, and Vernon of Inman; 34 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the West Liberty Mennonite Church near Inman, Kan. Even though for the last ten years she ahd been confined to her home, the children found her very patient and uncomplaining.

The memorial service wa held at 10:30 a.m. Aug 26 at the West Liberty Mennonite Church, Rev. Edward Birkey officiating. A quartet of grandsons sang. Burial was made in the West Liberty Cemetery.
