Charlie Sylvester, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Sylvester, Sr., was born Jan. 17, 1888 on his father's farm seven miles southeast of Goessel, Kan. and departed this life Nov. 17, 1961 in Cottonwood Falls, Kan. at the age of 73 years and 10 months.

His mother, Sarah Abigail Craig Sylvester, died four days after his birth and he was raised in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Goertzen. He was baptized in the Mennonite Church at Lehigh, Kan. when he was 15 years old. Later he joined the Alexanderwohl Church near Goessel, and on May 13, 1918 transferred his membership to the Tabor Mennonite Church.

He was united in marriage to Emma K. Kroeker on Oct. 27, 1910. She preceded him in death June 1, 1955. A little son, Harry C., age 6 passed away Sept. 9, 1920. All three now rest in Tabor Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Alert of Emporia and Clarence of Perry, Okla.; three granddaughters Barbara, Nancy and Connie Kay, and one grandson, Clarence Lindell Sylvester, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Tabor Mennonite Church near Goessel on Sunday, Nov. 19, 1961, at 2 p.m. Minister in charge was Rev. James Waltner. &#8212; Clarence E. Sylvester.

CHARLIE SYLVESTER, JR.

Charlie Sylvester, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Sylvester, Sr., was born Jan. 17, 1888 on his father's farm seven miles southeast of Goessel, Kan. and departed this life Nov. 17, 1961 in Cottonwood Falls, Kan. at the age of 73 years and 10 months.
