Youthtime Polio Vicitim [sic] Called Away In Death

Kalona, Iowa. — Funeral services were held here Dec. 6, at the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church, for Walter Bender, whose death occurred Dec. 4 in a Ft. Madison hospital.

The immediate cause of death was pneumonia.

Walter, who reached the age of 53, suffered a polio attack when he was six months old and as result was afflicted with a physical handicap all his life. He was born at Harper Kan. on Feb. 3, 1908, but moved to Iowa with his parents in 1909.

One sister and three brothers survive.
