• Mrs. Vernon Neufeld of North Newton has returned from Shafter, Calif., where she attended the funeral of her father, Carl Neumann. Mr. Neumann was formerly of Whitewater, Kan., but lived in the Shafter community for the past 25 years. He reached the age of 68 years and is survived by his wife, three sons, four daughters and 19 grandchildren. | |||

Carl Neumann, son of Carl and Henrietta Neumann, was born Jan. 31, 1893, at Whitewater, Kan. Later the family moved to Medford, Okla. It was there he was baptized and received into the church on May 11, 1913. | |||
On Oct. 7, 1915, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gaede. Five sons and five daughters were born to this union. | |||
For the past 25 years the Neumanns have made their home in Shafter, Calif. | |||
Mr. Neumann enjoyed the deep affection of his family and the high esteem of a wide circle of acquaintances. In his Christian life he revealed the unfailing loyalty to his Lord and master. This was evidenced in his every day life, in his keen internest in the work of the church, in his prayers and in his participation in the services of the church. | |||
On Thursday, Nov. 16, 1961, at about 5 p.m. he departed this life at the Bakersfield Hospital, having attained the age of 68 years. | |||
Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Neumann; three sons, Carl of Bakersfield, Donald of McFarland, and Richard of Wasco, Calif. four daughters, Mrs. Lester Neufeld (Edna) of Corona del Mar, Calif., Mrs. Delmar Mettler (Mildred) of Shafter, Calif., Mrs. Vernon Neufeld (Ruth) of North Newton, Kan., Mrs. Marshall Unruh (Mary) of Shafter, Calif., 19 grandchildren; one brother, Oscar; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Dirksen, Mrs. Lizabeth Neufeld, and Mrs. Earl Ellis, all of Oklahoma. | |||
He was preceded in death by two sons, Irvin and Clarence, one daughter, Rita, his father and mother and one brother, Henry. — The Family. | |||

CARL NEUMANN
Carl Neumann, son of Carl and Henrietta Neumann, was born Jan. 31, 1893, at Whitewater, Kan. Later the family moved to Medford, Okla. It was there he was baptized and received into the church on May 11, 1913.
