Winkler, Man. &#8212; Funeral services were held Nov.24 at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church here for Rev. J. M. Pauls, former moderator of the Conference of Mennonites in Canada, who died Nov. 20. He was suffering from cancer.

Rev. Pauls, 58, was born in South Russia and came to Canada in 1926. Ordained as an elder in 1951, he served as president of the Canadian conference in 1959-61. He was chairman of the board of the Salem Home for Aged and of the Mennonite Sanitarium of Manitoba.

Prominent Manitoba Church Leader Dies

Winkler, Man. — Funeral services were held Nov.24 at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church here for Rev. J. M. Pauls, former moderator of the Conference of Mennonites in Canada, who died Nov. 20. He was suffering from cancer.

Rev. Pauls, 58, was born in South Russia and came to Canada in 1926. Ordained as an elder in 1951, he served as president of the Canadian conference in 1959-61. He was chairman of the board of the Salem Home for Aged and of the Mennonite Sanitarium of Manitoba.

He preached his last sermon in the Winkler Bergthaler Church on Sunday, Oct. 15.
