MARIE BESTVATER

Marie Bestvater, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Schultz) Bestvater, was born in South Russia on June 28, 1872, and died at Goessel, Kansas on June 16, 1953, aged 80 years, 11 months 19 days.

In May 1893 her parents and their family came to America and in October of that year they moved on the farm on which the family has lived since that time.

She received her education and Christian training in the Mennonite schools in Russia and one year in Bethel College of North Newton, Kansas. While still in Russia she was baptized on her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour from sin and became a member of the Mennonite church. When her family became members of the First Mennonite church of Newton, Kansas, she also joined that church and remained a faithful member of the church until the time of her death.

She loved to read devotional books and often expressed her love for the Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ and her longing to be with Him in glory.

She leaves to mourn her departure three brothers and two sisters: Abram of Canton, Kansas, Henry, John, Helen and Agatha of Newton, Kansas.
