PHYLLIS MARGARET SCHMIDT

Phyllis Margaret Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Schmidt, was born at Goessel, Kan. on August 18, 1928. She was baptized upon the confession of her faith that Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world was her Saviour too, and received as member into the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, whose faithful member she remained until her death.

Phyllis spent her youth in and around the Goessel community. On August 21, 1952 she was united in holy matrimony to Harry W. Schmidt of Ulysses, Kan. She passed to her eternal reward April 22, 1961 at the Ulysses hospital. One daughter, Viola Faye, preceded her in death in infancy on March 22, 1959.

Some of Phyllis' favorite songs were: “My Faith Looks Up To Thee,” “Stand Up, Stand Up, For Jesus,” “Faith of Our Fathers,” “Wonderful Words of Life,” “I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone,” and “A Well of Delight.”

She was a good housewife and a devoted mother. Her family was her deepest concern. During her recent illness she expressed her willingness to trust her health in the hands of her Lord.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Harry W. Schmidt; three sons, Arlo Dean, Leroy James, Clifford Lynell, and one daughter, Leanna Phyllis, born April 21, 1961, all of the home; her parents, of Hillsboro, Kan.; one brother Eldon Schmidt and wife Margaret of Newton, Kan.; one sister Linda and husband Arthur Jantz and family of Hillsboro, Kan.; and a host of relatives and friends. — The Family.
