SUFFOCATED UNDER SILAGE

Marion, S. D. — Funeral services were held at the Bethesda Mennonite Church here Wednesday, Oct. 19, for nine-year-old Gary Schmidt, who suffocated when a stack of silage fell on him as he was helping with the chores.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schmidt who live on a farm near here. About an hour passed before the anxious family was able to find the lad. Mr. Schmidt, called home from the field, noticed what had happened to the pile of silage and uncovered Gary's lifeless body. Resuscitation attempts were of no avail.
