&#8212;  Mrs. Walter J. Schmidt of Goessel died Saturday at the Bethesda hospital.  She was born in Hillsboro in 1911 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Hiebert, and reached the age of 49 years.  Married in 1933, she lived the rest of her life with her family in the Goessel area.  She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Larry Cook, Mrs. Adolph Smith Jr., and Mrs. Leslie Downen, all of Newton; one son Leroy of the home; two brothers, six sisters and three grandchildren.  Rev. Peter W. Goering conducted the funeral services, held Wednesday at the Lehigh Mennonite church.

Mrs. Anna E. Hiebert Schmidt, daughter of Peter E. Hiebert and Aganetha Schmidt Hiebert, was born on March 28, 1911, to Marion County Kan.     
 
After the death of her mother in 1925 she and her sister Hilda were taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Goosen, with whom she made her home until the time of her marriage.     
 
She was baptized on May 19, 1929, by Rev. Peter H. Unruh and accepted as a member of the Alexanderwohl church, where she retained her membership until she transferred to the Lehigh Mennonite church with her husband in March, 1945.     
 
On Oct. 15, 1933, she was married to Walter Schmidt.  To this union four children were born.     
 
For the last three years she was in ill health and bedfast for the last seven weeks.  After a week in the hospital she passed away Oct. 1, having reached the age of 49 years, 6 months and 3 days.     
 
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Walter; three daughters, Delores and husband Larry Cook; Ruth Ann and husband Adolf Smith; Gladys and husband Leslie Downey; all of Newton; one son, Leroy Paul of the home; three grandchildren, two brothers, six sisters, and other relatives and friends.
