JULIUS TOEWS

Julius Toews was born September 21, 1888 in Dalinowka, Russia. His parents were Julius and Katharine (Thiessenl Toews. On May 25, 1926 he was baptized by Rev. Isaac Krahn and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On June 16, 1913 he was married to Aganetha Neufeld. Eight children were born to them, three of which died in infancy. In 1929 they emigrated via Germany to Paraguay, arriving in 1930. While in Germany an infant son died. For 27 difficult years they lived in Paraguay.

In the 1957 the family immigrated to Canada with two unmarried children. With the. help of relatives and God-given good health they were able to establish a home in Virgil, Ontario.

In 1968 Mr. Toews suffered a cerebral inflamation. He recovered and was able to take a normal interest in life. His wife Aganetha passed away in 1972 after which he was often lonely even though lovingly cared for by the children where he made his home.

The Lord fulfilled his wish to go to the heavenly home on July 12. He lived to be 86 years and nine months.

He leaves to mourn two sons, John and family in Virgil, Onto and Peter and family in Paraguay ; three daughters, Katie (Mrs. Abram) Neufeld, Paraguay, Neta (Mrs. Peterl Epp, Argentina, and Anna (Mrs . Johnl Unruh, Vineland, Ont.; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 14 in the Virgil Mennonite Brethren with Rev. J. G . Baerg officiating.
