GEORGE REGEHR

George Regehr was born Nov. 14, 1886, on a farm southwest of Inman, Kan. He grew up to manhood with opportunities of education somewhat limited. He was baptized upon his confession of faith on July 25, 1909, by Elder Heinrich Toews and was received as a member into the Bethel Mennonite church, where he remained a member throughout life.

On Oct. 10, 1911, he was united in marriage with Anna Pauls. This union was blessed by the birth of a son, but was soon broken by the death of the mother on Nov. 4, 1913. On May 28, 1914, he was united in marriage to Mary Pauls. To this union were born eight children.

He enjoyed good health throughout life, but had to have surgery in 1958. However he recovered fully. On July 27 he complained of dizziness. He was taken to the Mercy Hospital at Moundridge. He soon became unconscious and remained that way to the end. He had a double stroke and was completely paralyzed. His soul left this earthly body to return to its Maker on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 6:45 p. m. All the children were present at that time. He reached the age of 72 years, eight months and 18 days.

He had a deep concern for children and grandchildren that all would be saved and the circle would be unbroken. Before his operation he gave the testimony that he believed that God had forgiven his sins.

He leaves to mourn his departure his bereaved wife, four sons and daughters-in-law, George and Velma, Curt and Marie, Arnold and Fern, and Art and Helen, all of Inman, five daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and John Heidebrecht of Sedgwick, Linda and Emerson Pankratz, Sara and Abe Thiessen, and Kathryn and Franklin Pankratz, all of Inman, and Betty and Sam Ediger of Buhler; two sisters, Mrs. A. J. Pauls of Buhler and Mrs. John K. Neufeld of Inman, 30 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. One daughter-in-law and one grandchild preceded him in death.
