ISAAC VEER
Isaac Veer, the son of Jacob and Lena Goertzen Veer, was born in Russia on Nov. 14, 1873, and departed this life in Cavalier Memorial Hospital on Aug. 1, 1959, at the age of 85 years, eight months and 18 days.
At the age of two he came to America in 1875 with his parents and settled at Rhineland, Man.
He was baptized at an early age in the Old Mennonite church of Rhineland, Man. In approximately the year 1897 he moved with his parents to near Langdon, N. D. Here he became a member of the Bethel Mennonite church of Dresden, N. D.
On July 23, 1899, he was united in marriage to Mary Hiebert. To this union were born five children: Katie, Mrs. Jake Penner of Langdon, Jacob of Langdon, Isaac of Leyden, Mary, and Helen, Mrs. Clifford Evans. His wife Mary and two daughters, Mary and Helen, preceded him in death. His wife Mary died on July 12, 1916.
On July 28, 1918 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hiebert. To this union were born two children, Anna, Mrs. Herbert Etterman of Munich, and Henry of Seattle, Wash. His wife Elizabeth preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1953.
He leaves to mourn his departure one sister, Mrs. Mary Selley of Winnipeg, Man., three sons and two daughters, 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
