The Lord was a constant source of strength to him. He found opportunities for serving other, when he visited people he would comfort and encourage them in song.

On January 14 his course was finished and the Lord called him home. He is survived by his wife Annie and nine children: Richard, Kenneth, (Mrs.) Grace Penner, (Mrs.) Inez Beitz, (Mrs.) Evelyne Rempel and families of Winnipeg, Herbert, Earl and families of Calgary, (Mrs.) Dora Nutt and family of Whitehorse, Yukon and Lome of Steinbach; also many grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
