&#8212; Simon F. Schmidt, 64, lifelong resident of the Goessel vicinity, died suddenly Monday morning at the farm home on Route 2, Newton. He had been in ill health for several months. Funeral services were announced for Thursday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl church. Rev. P. A. Wedel in charge. Surviving are the widow, who was Margaret Unruh; two sons, Randolph and Lester, both of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Roland P. Brown of Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Leland Wedel of Neodesha; 11 grandchildren, five sisters and four brothers.
