KATIE EITZEN

Katie Eitzen was born at Goessel, Kan., to Herman and Anna (Nikkel) Androes on Feb. 10, 1895. She received her education at a country school and Goessel Preparatory School.

On June 8, 1913, she was baptized upon confession of faith and received into the membership of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. Later she transferred her membership to Gospel Mennonite Church at Mt. Lake, Minn. First Mennonite church in Newton, Kan., and in 1937 she became a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Mt. Lake.

She was united in marriage to Herman E. Eitzen on Jan. 24, 1922, at Goessel. After their marriage they lived in Mt. Lake for 3½ years; then they moved to Newton, Kan. where she worked at Bethel Home for Aged as a cook and her husband was employed at Berry's Hatchery. In 1937 they moved to Mt. Lake, where they operated the Mt. Lake Hatchery for 11 years and the Book and Wallpaper Store for five years. He died Sept. 29, 1955.

She was involved at Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, Pa., from August 1966 to August 1967. She then worked for Epp's Store in Mt. Lake for eight years. She was active in the senior organization, including the harmonica band. She enjoyed needlework and art.

On July 7, 1989, she became a resident of Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake, where she died Nov. 22, 1989, at age 94.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Verona and Alden "Chuck" Stoesz of Bloomington, Minn.; two grandsons; two sisters, Helen Androes of Newton and Frieda Schmidt of Wichita, Kan.: and two brothers and their wives, Pete and Vera Androes of Belle Plaine, Kan., and Abe and Olga Androes of Neton; three sisters-in-law, Hermine Androes of Kalispell, Mon., Agatha Androes of Newton and Linda Androes of Denver, Colo.

Funeral services were held Nov. 25, 1989 at Bethel Mennonite Church, Mr. Lake, Minn., with Jeffrey Minor and Norman Geissinger officiating. Interment was in Mountain Lake Cemetery.
