&#8212; Peter R. Schmidt, 62, a resident here the past 18 years, died Monday at the Veteran Hospital in Wichita after being a hospital patient since Feb. 26. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Moody's Funeral Chapel in Newton, with Rev. H. B. Schmidt officiating. Burial was made in the Tabor Church Cemetery. Mr. Schmidt, who had been employed here as a carpenter, formerly lived on a farm near Walton. He is survived by his wife, Luise [''sic'' Louise], two daughters, Mrs. A. C. Richards of Newton and Mrs. Nelson Burger of Wichita; one son, Menno R. of Newton; five brothers and one sisters.
