Former Missionary to India Dies at Berne
Berne, Ind. — Mrs. Hilda (Reusser) Dester, 75, wife of Dr. Herbert E. Dester of Berne, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 1 at the Adams County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dester had assisted her husband when he was a medical missionary in India from 1927 till 1957. She also assisted him in the office when he started a medical practice in the city of Berne in the early 1960s.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Dec. 4 at the First Mennonite Church with Rev. Gordon Neuenschwander and Rev. Gerald Stucky officiating.
Mrs. Dester had been suffering from cancer for six months. A few months ago she underwent surgery, and was able to return home. In recent weeks she suffered a relapse and was admitted to the hospital two hours before she died.
Surviving are her husband, two sisters, and a brother.
