JOHN KENNETH ENNS

John Kenneth Enns, a well-known local businessman in Clearbrook, B.C., and a deacon of the Bakerview Mennonite Brethren Church, passed away suddenly in his home, March 18, at the age of 58.

He was born in Crimea, Russia, came to Canada in 1925 and for the past 30 years resided in the Abbotsford area. He was married to Elizabeth Warkentin in 1942, a union blessed with one daughter, Mrs. D. J . (Ruth Elaine) Nickel of Kamloops, and one son, Terrance John of Clearbrook. A little grandson, Graham Nickel, was his pride and joy.

He accepted Christ as Saviour in his youth. Shortly after his marriage he experienced a spiritual renewal and was later baptized in the Matsqui MB Church. The quality of his spiritual life and his quiet love for his fellowmen helped to draw attention to him when the Clearbrook MB Church looked for deacons. He was ordained to the diaconate in 1963.

The memorial service was held March 22 from Bakerview MB Church, with Pastor J. H. Quiring officiating. Six deacons of the church served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Mennonite Hazelwood cemetery.
