DAVID A. AND ELIZABETH A. MARTENS

David A. Martens and his wife Elizabeth Willems Martens, met their untimely death on October 21, 1952, at 7:00 o’clock in the evening in a train-car collision at Medora, Kans.

Elizabeth Willems Martens was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Willems. She was born on August 14, 1903. She was baptized and received into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren church at Buhler on June 12, 1921. Later she transferred her membership to the Hebron Mennonite church.

David A. Martens was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Martens. He was born on July 5, 1896. He was baptized and received into the Hebron Mennonite church on July 18, 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Martens were members of the Hebron church at the time of death.

They were united in marriage on March 27, 1922. This union was blessed with one son, Ray W., of Hutchinson. Their son, his wife, Helen, and their two children, Pamela Rae and Terry, brought much joy to them in their home. They remain to mourn their passing.

Elizabeth Willems Martens leaves to mourn her departure her son, Ray and family; her parents, Henry G. Willems, Buhler; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Kim, Buhler; two brothers, Jake E. Williams, Portland, Oregon and Ervin D. Williams, Vancouver, Washington; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and other close relatives and a host of friends.

David A. Martens leaves to mourn his departure, his son, Ray and family; two brothers, Paul G., Burlington, Kansas and Dan of Wichita; five sisters, Mrs. George Fehdrau, Buhler, Mrs. J. P. Sawatzky, Buhler, Mrs. J. M. Bartel, Hutchinson, Mrs. D. H. Dick, Buhler, and Mrs. John Schroeder, of Goessel; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law, many other close relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Martens were born in the Buhler community and spent their entire lives there. Mr. Martens was engaged in various businesses in and close to Buhler all his life. For the last ten years Mrs. Martens worked in the Willey's department store in Hutchinson.

We mourn their departure. Father, mother, brother and sister, friend and neighbor have been taken from us. We experience the truth of these words found in the possession of Mrs. Martens:

God doesn't give all sunshine
He also sends the rain
He gives to each a share of joy
And each a share of pain;
But through it all,
His love divine
Gives strength for every care
The heart that calls to Him finds help —
God always answers prayer.
