Two Brothers Drown In Virginia River
WERE ONLY CHILDREN OF DR. AND MRS. HARRY KRAUS OF DENBIGH
Denbigh, Va. — The community here was deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of Joseph and Milton Kraus, sons and only children of Dr. and Mrs. Harry Kraus, who lost their lives by drowning in the Warwick River on Monday, June 24.
The youths, aged nine and seven respectively, had gone swimming in the river with a group of four neighbor children under the care of Mrs. Gilbert Rohrer. Somehow the two Kraus boys were swept away by the undercurrent.
The body of Joseph was found the same day. Hundreds of people worked almost all night and until noon of the following day, when a fisherman found the body of Milton.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning, June 27, at the Warwick River Mennonite Church, with Truman Brunk officiating, assisted by John Shenk.
