— Gerhard F. Busenitz, 68, well known farmer of Route 5, Newton, died of a heart attack Monday afternoon a short time after being admitted to the Halstead Hospital. Funeral services are announced for Thursday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church of Newton, Rev. Arnold Epp and Rev. J. E. Entz officiating. A native of Germany, Mr. Busenitz had farmed southeast of Newton since 1912. Surviving are his wife, who was Marie Suderman; three sons, Gerhard A., Alfred and Karl, all of Route 5; a daughter Anna Marie of the home; and one brother, William, also of Route 5.

GERHARD F. BUSENITZ

Gerhard F. Busenitz, our loving hus band, father and grandfather, was born on Sept. 17, 1888, near Marienburg Germany and departed this life to be with his Lord on April 22,1957, at 5:40 p.m., at the age of 68 years, seven months and six days.

He was the youngest son of John and Katherine (Dyck) Busenitz. In 1893 his parents with their family emigrated to America, settling southeast of Newton, Kansas. Here he spent his boyhood days. He attended district school and Bethel Academy.

In 1906 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Elder Jacob Toews and received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church of Newton, Kansas where he remained a faithful member until his death.

On Dec. 19, 1912, he was united in marriage to Marie Suderman. They established their home southeast of newton. this home was blessed with four children. It was his desire that each might grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto His death. One of the many impressions that will always remain with us was his concern that truth and righteousness might reign supreme in each of our lives and this he demonstrated so vividly in his daily life.

It was the happy privilege of mother and father to share joys and sorrows for 45 years. It was a joyous occasion when they were privileged to celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with the family, relatives and friends.

The grandchildren looked forward to going to grandparents house where each one was loved and cherished. Father enjoyed good health until recent years when gradually symptoms of failing health appeared. His sudden passing was due to coronary heart failure. We praise God that father could have a peaceful home going.

He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife; one daughter, Anna Marie of the home; three sons, Gerhard A., Alfred, and Karl all of Route 5, Newton, three daughters-in-law; also one brother William Busenitz of Route 5, Newton; 12 grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

The unfailing hope of his life is expressed in Ephesians 2:8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god; not of works, lest any man should boast." — The Family.
