— Relatives and friends from Newton attended funeral services at the Johannestal Church near Hillsboro Nov. 7 for Mrs. Peter S. Schroeder, 94, pioneer settler of that community who died Nov. 3 at the Mission Home. Born in Polish Russia, she came to the Hillsboro community with her parents in 1877. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Esko Loewen, Rev. Elbert Koontz and Rev. H. T. Unruh. The large family of survivors includes nine daughters and one son; 41 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and one brother, G. A. Schroeder. A daughter, Mrs. J. W. Goertz, resides in Newton.
